Imatron Announces EBT Scanner sale to HeartTest in , Florida

So. San Francisco, Calif., March 14, 2000 - Imatron Inc. (Nasdaq: IMAT) announced today that it has sold an EBT scanner to HeartTest in , Florida. This EBT system sale will be recorded in the Company's first fiscal quarter financial results.

HeartTest, a 3000 square foot facility, will be headed by Dr. Joseph Horgan, a well-known cardiologist in the southwest Broward county area and will offer coronary artery scanning utilizing Imatron's EBT scanner. HeartTest will also offer electron beam angiography (EBA) and electron beam lung scanning in the near future. HeartTest plans to reinforce its well-established referral network by developing marketing strategies such as seminars and demonstrations with cardiologists, primary care physicians and medical groups.

HeartTest will be headquarted in , Florida, which is one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. and is within 20 minutes from Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. The facility is expected to be operational by mid-May 2000.

Dr. Joseph Horgan, Medical Director of HeartTest, stated, "We are very pleased to offer Coronary Artery Scanning to South Florida and look forward to bringing Imatron's EBT scanner to our new diagnostic imaging facility. EBT is a powerful tool which allows us not only to detect coronary heart disease much earlier, but gives us the ability, once detected, to monitor it for progression, stability or regression. The public's increased awareness of the availability and usefulness of this diagnostic technology will help save lives."

S. Lewis Meyer, Imatron's CEO said, "The sale of Imatron's EBT scanner to Dr. Horgan's new HeartTest facility is tangible evidence of the rapidly increasing acceptance of EBT Coronary Artery Scanning across all segments of the healthcare community. The public awareness of and interest in EBT as the state-of-the-art diagnostic technology to detect the presence and extent of coronary artery calcium, and, thereby, assess the plaque burden in an individual's coronary arteries is overwhelming. Imatron has been inundated with telephone calls from all parts of the country requesting information on the location of the closest EBT scanner installation. We look forward to the rapid expansion of our installed base throughout the U.S. to satisfy this widespread demand for the unique capabilities of EBT."

Imatron, Inc. is primarily engaged in designing, manufacturing, marketing, and supporting high performance EBT scanners based on the Company's proprietary electron beam tomography (EBT) technology.
