The very smallest cancers can now be detected by cancer screening through CT and EBT scans, long before they might be visible on standard chest x-rays or other tests. In cancer screening, the search for medical evidence in a patient showing no symptoms, CT and EBT can identify problems well in advance of standard methods of cancer screening and detection. Often times an early exam is enough for immediate corrective action to be taken. What's more, the radiation from scans is minimal. Exposure under CT Spiral and EBT scanning cancer screening takes only seconds, and complete x-ray results are usually available within minutes of the scan. In CT Spiral scan cancer screening, the patient is positioned on the examining table and moved forward as an x-ray tube rotates around the body. EBT scans employ an electron beam focused on a tungsten plate beneath the patient on a table. The beam moves in the required direction to complete the images. These new technologies are making early detection easier, and treatments more effective because of it. |
